We make practical guides for preparing a home, sharing everyday care and giving cats and dogs room to rest, play and settle in. Our aim is a useful next step: an observation to make, a routine to write down or a conversation to have.

Who is behind it

Housemates is published by Hale Pet Door. Hale owns the publication and has a commercial interest in pet products. This relationship is disclosed on every page. Housemates is an editorial name, not an independent veterinary practice or product-testing laboratory.

How the guides are made

The launch guides were prepared with AI assistance and checked against the primary sources listed on each page. Sources include veterinary educational resources and animal-welfare organizations. No veterinarian, behaviorist or other professional has reviewed this publication. We do not invent authors, qualifications, customer stories, product tests or expert endorsements.

We distinguish source-supported principles from our original household exercises, comparison tables and planning templates. The exercises are suggestions to adapt, not clinical protocols or guaranteed outcomes. Medical treatment, individual diets, medication and behavior problems belong with the appropriate qualified professional.

What a source date means

“Sources checked” records when the linked material was accessed for the guide. It does not mean an expert reviewed our article. We update publication and revision dates when content materially changes, not merely to make a page appear fresh.
